Barker's Back in Business Injured Forward Scores 20, Leads Bears to Win
ALBANY, N.Y. - Bracey Barker demonstrated Sunday afternoon that her fractured right wrist is healing nicely. The senior forward from Bar Harbor scored 20 points and pulled down nine rebounds to lead the University of Maine to a 57-52 America East women's basketball victory over Albany at SEFCU Arena.
Libbey Effort Sparks Lynx Past Caribou
LINCOLN - Derek Libbey's contribution to Mattanawcook Academy's run to postseason play a year ago included a tinge of subtlety - he didn't start for the Lynx, but he finished games well enough to earn second-team all-conference status. But the junior guard is at the forefront from the opening tip to the final buzzer this season, no small reason Mattanawcook is still undefeated after a 59-48 Class B boys basketball victory over Caribou on Saturday.
Bapst Defeats Pi 'Cats Laferriere Paces Crusader Victory
BANGOR - John Bapst girls basketball coach Mike Webb couldn't have asked for much more from his Crusaders than what he got last week. In a four-day span, Bapst knocked off previously undefeated Mount Desert Island, beat Hermon, and on Saturday picked up a huge 50-44 victory over defending Class B state champ Presque Isle, gaining a bit of revenge against a team it hadn't beaten in the two years the Crusaders have been in Class B.
Purcell Lifts Black Bears Past Lowell Freshman Scores Twice; Bishop Racks Up 42 Saves
NORTH BILLERICA, Mass. - Freshman right wing Teddy Purcell keeps scoring and sophomore goalie Ben Bishop keeps making saves. Purcell had two goals for the third straight game and also notched an assist and Bishop made a career-high 42 saves as the University of Maine men's hockey team continued its mastery over UMass Lowell with a 5-2 triumph at the Chelmsford Forum Saturday afternoon.

Simpson Paces Umf Women Past Plymouth Husson Men Lose Two at Carrabba's Shootout
PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Kari Simpson tallied 18 points and grabbed 12 rebounds Sunday to lift the University of Maine-Farmington to 75-65 women's basketball victory over Plymouth State. Karen Sirois and Caitlyn Laflin scored 16 points apiece for the Beavers. Amanda Byrne added 12 points.

DEXTER - Corey Voisine scored 18 points Saturday to help the Fort Kent Warriors defeat Dexter 56-50 in overtime in boys basketball action. Samuel Bard scored 14 points for Fort Kent, and Jason Lesaldo added 11 points.

BAR HARBOR - The Mount Desert Island Trojans outscored the Sumner Tigers 19-6 in the second quarter en route to a 79-61 schoolboy basketball victory Saturday. Sean Paradis paced the winners with 16 points.
Bangor Teams Set Four Records in Relay Sweep
ORONO - Bangor High School seniors Casey Quaglia and Cam Cormier continued their assault on the Eastern Maine Indoor Track League record books in Saturday's Black Bear Relays at the University of Maine field house. Quaglia set a meet record in the mile, cruising to the win in 4 minutes, 27.9 seconds, while Cormier ran to a 6.77 performance in the 60 dash.
