Area Events Honor Cancer Survival, Fund Research
Two separate events in Bangor and Old Town this weekend emphasized the impact cancer has had on the estimated 10,000 people in the region who are living with the disease. One honored survivors; the other raised money for research. VERONA ISLAND - Maine State Police are urging people to beware of a new swindle in town designed to steal personal information. Trooper Michael Southard said Saturday that he is investigating a telephone scam that appears to be the first in the state, but not in New England. Man Sues Wardens Over a 'Bird' He Shot Their Way
BANGOR - A Greene man has sued two Maine game wardens alleging that they violated his First Amendment right to free speech when they issued him a summons last year for making a rude gesture. Thomas Dube last month filed the lawsuit against Wardens Michael Boyer and Ronald Dunham in Piscataquis County Superior Court. Last week, the Maine Attorney General's Office moved the case to U.S. District Court in Bangor because it concerns federal constitutional issues.
