For the first time since 1981, Bangor Municipal Golf Course will be the site of the Women's Maine State Golf Association Championship tournament next July.

Although the dates have yet to be finalized, East Holden resident Marilyn Rice, who will serve as the co-chair of the three-day amateur event, said the membership is enthusiastic and ready to volunteer."We're so excited," said Rice, who is a former president of the Bangor Muni-affiliated, 60-member Bangor Women's Golf Club. "We've got an awesome group of women that I know I feel really safe chairing it. We have such great women who will do an awesome job. Everybody's really excited about it.
