Summary
One hundred years ago, the sight of active smokestacks was considered a good thing - "industry at work." Now we know better and realize that we cannot continue to live with the wide range of pollutants that power plants emit. I have visited the Mars Hill wind turbine project, and it is truly a beautiful thing to behold. It is called a wind farm because that is exactly what it does - farm energy from the wind, like potatoes from the fields or lumber from the forest.
It is a sign of a society seeking to both thrive and be smart - wind-smart. The Black Nubble and Kibby sites in Franklin would generate a substantial amount of new renewable power in Maine at a time when we need to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels.See the full content of this document
