STORRS, Conn. - Natalie Berry scored an unassisted goal six minutes into the second half Friday to lift the University of Maine women's soccer team opened the season with a 2-1 victory over Fairfield University at the UConn Invitational.

Christine LaBelle scored on a Marie-Andree Canuel assist in the first half for the 1-0 Black Bears. Jasmine Phillips stopped five of six shots.
