Bia Sees Strong Numbers in 2010 High Fuel Prices Could Hurt Capacity This Year

BANGOR - Big jumps in passenger numbers at Bangor International Airport during the last half of 2010 led to an overall increase of 4 percent from the previous year, but those numbers may not necessarily carry over to 2011.

"We were concerned that passenger enplanements would suffer all year, but the airlines responded to the region's strong demand by increasing capacity for the last several months," BIA Director Rebecca Hupp said. "Airline traffic has increased nationally in 2010, but rising fuel prices again threaten capacity as we start the new year."
