ORONO - It's difficult to recall the last time the defense- oriented University of Maine men's hockey team allowed four breakaways in a game.

That's exactly what happened on Friday night but 6-foot-7 freshman goalie Ben Bishop saved three of the breakaways and another breakaway shot sailed wide as the Black Bears rode Bishop to a 3-1 triumph over the hard-working Merrimack College Warriors at Alfond Arena.
