Community College System Students Face 8.8% Tuition Hike

AUGUSTA - The Maine Community College System board of trustees voted unanimously Wednesday to increase tuition for the first time in six years, citing growth in enrollment, rising costs of doing business, and flagging state appropriations.

The 8.8 percent increase means that beginning in September full- time students at the seven campuses will pay about $180 more per year for a total of $2,220 in tuition.
