Summary
Reading the Nov. 9 edition of the Bangor Daily News, I could not believe my eyes: the headline, "New Brunswick OKs casino gambling" stared me in the face, and I was instantly outraged. Maine denied the Passamaquoddy tribe and Washington County their bid for a racino, and Canada saw a prime opportunity and jumped right in, unopposed as usual.
This was just the latest lost opportunity for Washington County and gain for Canada. No way can Washington County have an LNG terminal; too dangerous opponents say, but OK to build one on the other side of the border in a metropolitan center. Lobster fishermen on this side of the border must use in the near future new rope at great expense so as not to entangle the endangered right whale. I guess these whales don't swim in Canadian waters because nothing has been said of them doing the same. Then, if this is not all bad enough, a new transmission line was constructed that will bring us poor souls in Maine electricity from Point Lapreau nuclear station, which by the way proposes another reactor to be constructed by the existing one. The environmental doomsayers must be asleep at the wheel on this one.See the full content of this document
