PITTSFIELD - Pittsfield organic farmer Tom Roberts said Wednesday that when the local farmers market reopened for the season last Monday, there were plenty of goods to choose from.

Contrary to the general impression that the growing season hasn't begun in Maine, vendors at the Pittsfield market offered carrots, spinach, lettuce and potatoes, along with fresh herbs.
