AUGUSTA - The 50 percent fee increases instituted over the past two years at Baxter State Park have served their purpose in balancing the budget at the "people's park," Resource Manager Jensen Bissell said this week.

Wednesday, the three members of the Baxter State Park Authority - Attorney General Steven Rowe, Maine Forest Service Chief Alec Giffen and Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Commissioner Roland "Dan" Martin - approved a $6 million park budget for the next two fiscal years.
