Medicare enrollees in Maine will benefit from a federal grant of $269,137 announced Wednesday by the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. The money will be used to fund Maine's State Health Insurance Assistance Program, known as SHIP, which is aimed at enhancing Medicare recipients' understanding and use of their Medicare benefits.
Mary Walsh, manager of community programs at the state's Office of Elder Services, said Wednesday that the annual SHIP funding helps pay for outreach programs through Maine's five regional Agencies on Aging.
