Summary
Roger Bowen makes some good points regarding mowing on the Interstate in his letter to the editor, "To save 'green' don't mow median" (BDN, March 6).
Several years ago, I was perturbed when I observed mowing in the Pittsfield area during the month of November. In addition to Bowen's points, I believe this should be considered: Lady Bird Johnson pushed for and got wildflower plantings on Southwestern highways. Anyone who has observed the heat produced by a burning hayfield or barn full of hay knows of the heat potential of the thousands of acres along the Interstate.See the full content of this document
