HOLDEN - Icy road conditions and an accident on Route 46 delayed pupils on three Holbrook Middle School buses who were heading home Friday afternoon.

Pupils on the last bus leaving the school waited as long as 45 minutes to allow Route 46 to be sanded as snow continued to make the road slick throughout the day. The route had been salted earlier, but Holden police Sgt. Gene Fizell said the roads iced over and then became packed with snow.
