Summary
I chuckled when I read Dr. Erik Steele's column, "Maine legislative barrel of fun, part II" (BDN, March 30), on the bills in the Maine Legislature. Then I had an idea. Let's amend LD 210, which would reduce salaries and mileage expenses paid to state legislators by 10 percent, to reduce only the salaries and travel costs of legislators who vote to pass LD 1579, regarding male-female as well as same-sex domestic partnerships, on a roll call vote.
That way the probate costs would receive funding. Children in kindergarten would not have to seek a government job to pay for protecting their survivorship rights and the domestic partners of former spouses would have more time out of court to practice wildlife calls.See the full content of this document
