This is in response to the stories in the news stating that the Baldacci administration wants to make more cuts in spending. Finance Commissioner Rebecca Wyke has stated that people don't want to spend more money on the government and that what is being spent is enough. I don't really think that people are unhappy in the amount the government is spending to run itself. I think there is a strong possibility that they are unhappy with how money is divided - specifically, the amount of money going to people that seem to be unable to work at all at such a young age. They receive disability and make no attempt to lead productive lives. And why should they? We make it so easy not to. People move to Maine from other states because they know how much easier it is to receive aid here. There are much looser guidelines, and it seems to be a never-ending cycle.
Once someone is receiving free money, they don't have any initiative to get off aid. There needs to be an overhaul of the system to make it what it was meant to be: help in times of need, to get back on your feet. No longer is this what it is used for. It goes on and on, and is abused.See the full content of this document
