As a 30-day deadline set by Gov. John Baldacci approaches, MaineCare providers and the state are still at odds over a computer- generated bottleneck in the payment system that some 7,000 providers - and their 262,000 clients - depend on.

Steady progress is being made and the problems are nearly fixed, according to the Bureau of Medical Services. But many providers say they're still a long way from "business as usual." The governor's deadline for resolving the cash flow crisis is Monday.
