AUGUSTA - A bill that would ban the use of electronic devices, including cell phones, by drivers under 18 won unanimous approval by the Legislature's Transportation Committee Thursday.
LD 161, which as proposed would have banned the use of hand-held cell phones by minor drivers, was amended during Thursday's work session. Instead of limiting the ban to cell phones, the law, if it wins approval of the full Legislature, would also include electronic devices like video games and possibly portable MP3 players like the Apple iPod.See the full content of this document
