Peter Drum, president of the Lincoln County Bar Association, presented a $3,000 check from the association to the Lincoln County Historical Association at its annual membership meeting on Nov. 19 in Wiscasset. The funds will be used to help ongoing renovation of the 250-year-old Pownalborough Courthouse in Dresden.

Volunteer gardeners with the University of Maine Cooperative Extension Harvest for Hunger gardening program donated more than 140 tons of produce to charity, reported Extension educator and program coordinator Barbara Murphy of the South Paris Oxford County office. Nearly 500 volunteer gardeners in nearly a dozen counties donated produce to 114 food pantries, shelters or charitable organizations around the state. The number of participants more than doubled from 200 in 2010 and the number of organizations benefiting from the program more than tripled, from 45 last year, Murphy said. For information, call Murphy at 743-6329 or 800-287-1482.
