CORVALLIS, Ore. - Adalberto Santos and Tyler Smith each belted a solo home run in the third inning Sunday afternoon, giving 18th- ranked Oregon State all the runs it would need to earn a 2-1 baseball victory over the University of Maine at Goss Stadium.

The Beavers swept Saturday's doubleheader by scores of 7-5 and 12- 2, giving them a sweep of the four-game series.

UMaine coach Steve Trimper was nonetheless pleased with his team's efforts.

"It was an awesome trip. I'm glad we did it," Trimper said.

"We were in a position to win two games and they just outplayed us in well-played ballgames. I think as much as we want to get a win or two out of this, it's an outstanding experience to go into the rest of our season."
