CARIBOU - Percy A. Jackson, 87, died Nov. 10, 2011, in Caribou. He was born Aug. 11, 1924, in St. Francis, son of Aaron and Melissa (Thibodeau) Jackson.
He grew up in the Allagash and as a teenager Percy joined the family logging business, cutting trees and running them down river in the spring. At age 18, Percy married Doris (McBreairty) Jackson of Allagash, who he'd met when he was out on the town. Percy served with the US Air Force during World War II. During his armed service career he was in the military police, field artillery and transportation, and he saw action in France and Germany. He was a sheet metal specialist at Loring Air Force Base for many years until his retirement. Percy enjoyed gardening, quilting, picking fiddleheads in the spring and he loved to play the fiddle.
