A sudden drop in temperatures turned remnants of Tuesday's heavy rainstorm into light snow and black ice on Wednesday and created treacherous driving conditions for holiday travelers.
Numerous accidents were reported on Maine roads, especially in the afternoon hours. The most severe was a four-vehicle chain reaction-type accident on Interstate 95 in Newport that sent five people to the hospital.See the full content of this document
