SKOWHEGAN - Last year, Somerset County gardeners grew and donated 664 pounds of food valued at $1,660 to local food cupboards and soup kitchens, according to Hannah Todd, home horticulture coordinator for the University of Maine Cooperative Extension. This was part of the Plant-A-Row for the Hungry project, which statewide donated fresh local food worth more than $200,000.
