Summary
As evidenced by the three antiwar letters to the editor (BDN, July 18), it appears a majority of Mainers favor withdrawal from Iraq.
There is no question that the overall strategy employed in Iraq has been flawed. It was reasonably expected that following the establishment of a new Iraqi government and the formation of a trained army and police force, stability would be achieved and the United States could exit in an orderly fashion. We did not, however, anticipate a country resistant to democracy, a government rife with corruption and ambivalence, and an army and police force that were more interested in sectarian ties than protecting their country.See the full content of this document
