Summary
The op-ed, "Reading Recovery for Maine" (BDN, March 16), was right on the money regarding the needs of our young children in regards to learning to read. However, it did not touch on the most obvious reason to keep this program in place.
With the No Child Left Behind requirements now in place for today's students, they are expected to learn much more in the early years of school than before the legislation was enacted.See the full content of this document
