My thanks for your Oct. 25 editorial pointing out the rise of malaria in Africa and Asia. Because this is not a problem in the United States, many here are not aware of the resurgence of this epidemic. Obviously something must be done, but resorting to DDT - albeit a very limited use - should be considered a temporary solution.
The Department of Health and Human Services determined that DDT may reasonably be anticipated to be a human carcinogen. The International Agency for Research on Cancer determined that DDT may possibly cause cancer in humans.
