HOWLAND - They continue to pursue other options, but SAD 31's board of directors has taken tentative steps toward legally challenging a state Board of Education decision rejecting concept approval of a proposed $8.9 million grades seven to 12 school.

Interim Superintendent Jerry White read a memorandum from attorney Bruce W. Smith of Portland dated Wednesday that said that notice of a civil Superior Court appeal of the state board's 7-2 vote would best occur by Nov. 11, no more than 30 days after the board's decision.
