SKOWHEGAN - A former Fairfield woman has pleaded guilty to welfare fraud and forgery, closing a bizarre case that had state detectives trying to determine whether a baby had been harmed, possibly sold over the Internet or even existed at all,

Lynn Zeigler, 24, made her plea earlier this month and was sentenced in Somerset County Superior Court. Her husband and partner in the fraud, John Zeigler, 43, is serving a jail sentence for his part in the crimes.
