Summary
The Eighth Grade Student Science Fair, organized by eighth- grade science teacher Bernie Welch and his students and held April 27 at Sebasticook Valley Middle School in Newport, turned out to be a very successful and valuable experience. As a volunteer judge, I was greatly impressed.
Being from New York, I began to think about the sometimes tenacious and overreaching lobbyists who may be responsible for the disappearance of the seal of approval idea that often protected us. Student testing of some of the recently manufactured and advertised products, such as teeth-whitening strips, super ear hearing aids and others, became a kind of substitute for the old type of retail seal of approval and consumer reports.See the full content of this document
