ABBOT -- The new granite Abbot Veterans Memorial, including an updated honor roll, will be dedicated at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11, by the Civil War Monument on Route 15. A reception will be held afterward at the church in town.BANGOR -- Cole Land Transportation Museum ceremonies, 1 p.m. Friday, 405 Perry Road. Area students will read their winning essays in the 2011 Veteran Interview Essay Contest. Events at the museum will conclude with a patriotic concert performed by the Bangor Band. Activities are free and all are welcome. The museum will close at 5 p.m. for the winter.

BANGOR -- The Burton-Goode-Sargent Chapter 1-Korean War Veterans Association will remember Medal of Honor recipient Cyrus Hayden at 12:15 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11, at the Korean War Memorial at Mount Hope Cemetery. Hayden received the honor for his actions during the Korean Expedition in 1871, for planting the American flag on the ramparts during heavy enemy fire. For more information, call 942- 2559.BREWER -- The annual pancake breakfast prepared by the Bangor Breakfast Rotary, 7-10 a.m. Friday at Brewer Auditorium. Funds raised from the breakfast will be used for the "Keep Kids Warm" program for area children. Breakfast free to veterans.BREWER and BANGOR -- The Veterans Day Parade will start at 10:15 a.m. at the Brewer Shopping Center. Veterans will gather before the parade in the parking lot. Participants are asked to park at the shopping center. Three Cyr buses will carry veterans who cannot walk the 1 1/ 2-mile parade route and will follow the veterans group in the parade. The parade will proceed down Wilson Street, across the Chamberlain Bridge, turning right down Main Street in Bangor with ceremonies at the reviewing stand on Broad Street. The parade will continue up State Street, turning right onto Exchange Street to disband. Veterans riding the buses can stay on them at the end of the parade and be joined by veterans who marched. They will then be brought back to the Brewer Shopping Center.
