Summary
The Jordan River is a pristine, beautiful stretch of ocean paralleling Bar Harbor Road, lined by beautiful trees in Lamoine on the east side and in Trenton on the other. Kayakers and lobstermen are frequently seen working their way up and down the river. In the warmer months, wormers collect their livelihood on its shores while great blue herons patiently wait for their prey. In winter the river is visited by rafts of black ducks and buffleheads under the watchful eyes of eagles.
Now picture a trawler entering this unspoiled waterway, dredging its way along the length of the river, slowly but surely raking up the bottom as it wends its way back and forth over a three-day period. This happened Feb. l2-l4. On the last day, harvesting must have been so good the trawler continued its appalling assignment until after dark.See the full content of this document
