Summary
Almost everyone in Machias feels embarrassed by the regrettable behavior of a few individuals who behaved in a manner that was inappropriate and disrespectful. I know that as individuals, we would like to apologize for those actions that occurred within our community. It is revealing, however, that the chancellor and trustee James Mullen were surprised by such a strong reaction.
This strategic planning process has been a case study in how to fail to build consensus and teamwork. The process was conducted secretively, without any justification for how the plan will improve the campuses or any study to indicate that this plan is even feasible.
