OLD TOWN - Despite concern from some residents, there is nothing new or harmful about Georgia-Pacific Corp.'s intent to use construction and demolition debris wood chips as fuel for the $27.2 million biomass boiler now being constructed at the mill.

"This is one of a number of mills and wood-fired boilers in the state of Maine that are using [construction and demolition debris] as a substitute fuel," Ed Logue, Department of Environmental Protection regional manager for eastern Maine, said Tuesday.
