55 Units for Elderly Move Ahead in Bangor

Summary


BANGOR - Though it was relatively small action, a landscaping and grading easement for a 20-foot-wide swath of city land on Curve Street approved Monday night helped pave the way for the construction of a 55-unit affordable housing project for elderly residents.

City councilors said they are looking forward to the four-story complex, which will be built by Brunswick-based Volunteers of America Northern New England. Several members noted that the affordable housing complex is badly needed, given heating costs that are becoming unmanageable for many local seniors.
