Woman Accused of Embezzling $125,000

Summary

ELLSWORTH - For the second time in four years, an accountant from Exeter has been accused of embezzling more than $100,000 from a business for which she handled the books, but this time she likely will face criminal charges, according to a state police detective.

Cecelia G. White, 40, was ordered in 2002 to repay $107,000 she embezzled from a Chinese restaurant in Bangor after she lost a civil case the restaurant owners brought against her. According to Detective David Preble of Maine State Police, White was not criminally charged with embezzling money from now-defunct Asian Palace because of the civil penalty.
